As the only company so far entrusted
with national projecton TD-SCDMA and “863” project
by MoST (Ministry of Science and Technology), Comlent has
developed TD-SCDMA chipset CL4020 and CL4050, which are RF
transceiver and ABB (Analog Base Band) respectively, and owns
all IP of these products. The chipset
is the only solution so far who can interface with all the
domestic TD-SCDMA base band solution suppliers, i.e. Spreadtrum,
COMMIT, T3G, Datang and CYIT.
Comlent has been applying more than
10 patents on this design to claim the core technology
developed in 3G, which is also a solid base for Comlent’s
long-term development.
Because of its advanced technology and excellent performance
in CMOS technology, the technical paper
to introduce this design was disclosed in Feb. 2007 on ISSCC,
the worldwide top conference on IC design, which indicates
China’s CMOS TD-SCDMA chipset has reached world class
performance. And it was also the 1st time that Chinese
company shows the design for a whole IC on ISSCC during its
54-year history. Below are the highlights of this chipset.
First, it is based on advanced CMOS technology, which implies
significant room to cost down in production stage. The two
major solutions from international players are still using
BiCMOS technology which is more expensive. Comlent’s
strategy is more suitable for China market.
Second, it uses zero-IF architecture, which has potential
to optimize the performance and function. In general, zero-IF
architecture would lead to more difficulty in design. But
Comlent chipset uses this architecture with creativity so
as to simplify the circuit design meanwhile with enough performance
by maximizing digital capability and optimize the key analog
blocks. |
